Sporting purple, pink, white, and green in various combinations!!!
Acer palmatum 'Toyama Nishiki' One of the few variegated laceleafs, sporting purple, pink, white, and green in various combinations. It is a small mound, probably growing to not more than 5'. It grows quite heartily for us in full sun, but has better variegation in afternoon shade. You either like this tree or you don't: to some, it looks like a red laceleaf that is diseased, but I think this is mainly because no one expects variegation on a laceleaf. They could be technically correct, though. Some plant pathologists believe all variegation is viral. In fall, the tree turns uniformly gold. Not recommended for the coldest zones.
Goes well with Zebra grass and Bloodgood and Golden Full Moon Japanese Maples. Check out our store for these great plants!
